Vivo has launched a new smartphone in its popular Y series, the Vivo Y500. The phone was officially unveiled on 1 September at 7 pm in China and will go on sale from 5 September 2025.

The Vivo Y500 is an entry-level segment phone but looking at its features, it seems that the company has specially designed it for people who want long battery life, tough durability and smooth performance, that too at a pocket-friendly price. The biggest highlight is its 8200mAh Blue Ocean battery – which is being seen for the first time in a budget phone.

Vivo Y500 Features an Enormous 8200mAh Blue Ocean Battery

The biggest USP is its
8200mAh Blue Ocean battery. Normally such a big battery looks bulky, but Vivo has smartly designed it to fit in just 8.23mm slim body, and the weight of the phone is just 213g.

According to the company, the battery backup is:

• 21 hours GPS navigation

• 53 hours calling

• 28 hours outdoor usage

This means that on a single charge, it can easily last for 2 days.

Battery Durability and Safety Features You’ll Love

The battery uses semi-solid electrolyte material, which provides stable power even in extreme cold. This means that there will be no problem of fast battery drain or phone freezing in winters.

When the battery is about to die, the phone shifts to “Micro Power Elf Mode” – in which emergency calls and important travel info can be accessed.

Vivo has also added its battery health algorithm and 24-layer safety protection that protects against overheating, voltage and current. And the biggest thing – launch buyers will get 4-year Battery Treasure service, in which if the battery falls below 80% then a free replacement will be available.

Sleek and Stylish Design With Strong Durability

The vivo Y500 has a very modern and premium look. It comes in three colours – Glacier Blue, Dragon Crystal Purple and Basalt Black. The back panel and frame have a frosted finish that resists fingerprints and smudges.

The front side has a 6.77-inch display with 120Hz refresh rate, which has slim bezels all around. The display supports 3840Hz PWM dimming and has passed the National Eye Center and SGS low blue light certification – meaning there won’t be much stress on the eyes.

Military-Grade Durability: Drop, Water, and Dust Resistant

Along with the looks, the durability is also next level. The Vivo Y500 5g is certified with IP68/69/69+ water and dust resistance. It has also passed military-grade tests such as:

• High/low temperature test

• Salt spray exposure

• Drop and shock tests

The phone uses a reinforced sandwich motherboard and a strong midframe, which is why it has also received the SGS Gold Label five-star drop resistance certification.

Smooth Performance and Gaming on Vivo Y500

For performance, it is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor. This processor handles day-to-day tasks easily and the gaming performance is also quite smooth. Vivo claims that games like Honor of Kings and Game for Peace will run at near full frame rates.

The Y500 comes with a maximum of 12GB RAM and 512GB storage option – which is an extremely powerful combo in this price segment.

Vivo Y500 Camera and Entertainment Features

For photography, a 50MP ultra-clear main camera has been given, which has 4-in-1 pixel binning and EIS stabilization. Along with this, features like AI pedestrian removal, dynamic photo capture and beauty mode are also available. This phone becomes perfect for daily shots and travel photography.

For entertainment lovers, Y500 supports Hi-Res Audio, dual wireless certification and panoramic surround sound system. Its 360° antenna design makes internet connectivity and calling experience more stable.

Family-Friendly Features for Seniors and Kids

Vivo Y500 has also been made convenient for family and senior users. It features:

Fraud detection for spam calls, texts and fake links

Malicious app installation blocking system

One-touch data transfer for easy phone upgrade

Remote assistance – which helps seniors get help remotely

These features ensure that the phone remains safe, clean and easy-to-use.

Vivo Y500: A Strong Contender for India’s Budget Segment

Vivo Y500 5g is an entry-level smartphone that balances battery, durability and style. Its 8200mAh Blue Ocean battery, slim design, military-grade durability and family-friendly features make it a strong competitor in its segment.

If it is launched in India at a price of ₹15K-₹20K range, then Y500 will definitely give tough competition to budget models from Realme, Redmi and Samsung. Vivo’s focus is clear – long battery life with strong durability, and the Y500 delivers on this formula.
