Lexus has officially unveiled the new-generation model of its iconic luxury sedan, the Lexus ES, on 1 July 2025. Along with the global unveiling, the brand has put new design touches, advanced technology and hybrid performance improvements in the spotlight. Toyota’s luxury arm Lexus has made the ES even more premium, refined and tech-savvy this time – especially for buyers who prioritise comfort and reliability.
The Lexus ES has a strong fanbase in India too – mostly professionals and businessmen who prefer chauffeur-driven sedans. Despite the SUV boom, the Lexus ES remains a classy and dependable option for sedan lovers, and with new updates, its appeal is set to grow even more.
Design Evolution
The design of the new-generation Lexus ES looks evolutionary at first glance, but a deeper look reveals a freshness. The front grille – which has the brand’s signature spindle shape – is now even sleeker and integrated. It gets new LED headlamps that create a sharper and modern look.
The rear section has also seen a lot of refinement. The taillights are now connected to a full-width LED light bar that adds a futuristic touch. The design of the rear bumper has also been tweaked. The company has also introduced new alloy wheel designs and colour options that make the styling more attractive.
Interior: Perfect Blend of Technology and Comfort
While the exterior features minimal changes, the cabin has seen a noticeable transformation. The biggest change is the new 14-inch high-resolution touchscreen that is now positioned closer to the driver on the dashboard. It features the latest Lexus interface that comes with faster processing, better graphics and wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto support.
The voice assistant feature is also upgraded, making it easier to understand natural language commands. Support for OTA (Over-the-Air) software updates is also provided – an essential feature in today’s connected cars.
Interior materials have also become more premium. Semi-aniline leather seats, wood inlays and ambient lighting options can now be personalised. Rear seat comfort – a major USP of the ES in India – is now even better with improved cushioning and ventilation.
This blend of luxury and practicality could be quite appealing to Indian buyers, especially those who want daily comfort and sophistication.

Hybrid powertrain will remain India’s hero
Mechanically, Lexus has continued its trusted hybrid powertrain. Two variants have been confirmed in the global markets – Lexus ES 250 and Lexus ES 300h.
The Lexus ES 250 is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine that produces 203 bhp and comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It is also available with an all-wheel-drive option in some markets.
But in India, the focus has always been on the hybrid version – the Lexus ES 300h. This variant uses a combination of a 2.5-litre petrol engine and an electric motor with a total output of approx 215 bhp. Transmission duties are handled by an e-CVT gearbox that offers a smooth and refined driving experience, especially for city traffic.
Based on fuel efficiency and low emissions, this powertrain can still become a very sensible option in the Indian market – particularly for those buyers who do not want to switch to EV.
When will the India launch happen? What will be the new pricing?
Lexus India has not yet announced an official launch date, but according to sources, the new Lexus ES could be launched in India by the festive season of 2025. Festivals like Diwali and Dussehra are peak periods for luxury car sales, and the brand wants to take advantage of that.
Current-gen Lexus ES 300h pricing starts at ₹ 63.10 lakh (ex-showroom). Considering the upgraded features of the new model, it is expected that the price could be between ₹ 66 lakh and ₹ 70 lakh (ex-showroom).
Like in the previous model, Lexus will probably offer two trims – Executive and Luxury – which will give buyers flexibility in terms of variants.
Is EV Option Missing?
With most luxury brands aggressively pushing EVs in 2025, not having an electric version of the Lexus ES seems a bit disappointing. The brand does have EV models like the RZ 450e, but battery-electric offerings are still missing in the sedan segment.
Luxury EV adoption is growing steadily in India’s metro cities, and this could be a missed opportunity for Lexus. Still, the ES 300h’s hybrid efficiency and lower emissions will appeal to buyers who are still far from the full-electric transition.
Conclusion: Safe, Smart And Subtle Upgrade
The new-generation Lexus ES is a subtle but thoughtful update. There are evolutionary changes in the design, major tech improvements in the interiors, and a hybrid powertrain that fits the Indian conditions perfectly.
This car is perfect for buyers who value calm, comfort and a quality driving experience over aggressive looks and sporty performance.
If Lexus keeps its pricing competitive and works on the EV roadmap in the future, the new Lexus ES could further strengthen its position in India.
For now, it is a safe and smart choice for those who understand luxury as quiet elegance.
