The Toyota RAV4, one of the world’s best-selling SUVs, is now ready for a major upgrade with its 6th generation. Aggressive Design That Catch Every Sight
The 2026 Toyota RAV4 breaks away from its traditional sleek SUV design and arrives with a more aggressive look. Its hexagonal honeycomb grille and sharp LED headlights bring hardcore styling inspired by the Toyota Sequoia that creates a bold and powerful visual impact. A swooping waistline that extends from the front to the rear, combined with large alloy wheels and wide wheel arches, give the SUV a sporty presence. The upright rear hatch not only optimises aerodynamics but also enhances boot space. Both Smart and Practical Inside
The interior design of the new RAV4 is quite modern and practical. It gets a dual-screen setup – a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch central touchscreen, which comes with Toyota’s Smart Connect system. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay, dual-zone voice control and OTA updates. 
There are also physical climate control buttons on the centre console, for easy access while driving. Ergonomically designed seats come with heating and ventilation. Rear passengers also get more legroom, independent AC vents and USB-C charging ports. The 580-litre boot space and powered tailgate make it a perfect family tour car. 
Powertrain: Now only Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid
Now the RAV4 will only get hybrid options — gasoline-only models have now been discontinued. The base model gets a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine with CVT transmission, which maintains both fuel efficiency and smooth ride. 
The flagship variant gets Toyota’s 5th-gen THS 2 hybrid system — which combines a 2.5L petrol engine + electric motor to generate up to 160 kW of power. 0 to 100 km/h pickup takes just 8 seconds and WLTC fuel consumption is as low as 4.3 L/100 km. The plug-in hybrid version is even more advanced – it has a 2.5L high-power engine with a large capacity battery that gives a pure electric range of 80 km. Both fast and slow charging are supported. The total power of the system goes up to 300+ horsepower, and covers 0-100 km/h in just 6 seconds. A perfect balance of performance and green driving. 
Further Improvement in Off-Road Capabilities
The RAV4 has always been a strong off-road performer, and now the new model has even better features. Electronic 4WD system, multi-terrain drive modes like snow, sand, mud, etc., give you confidence in every type of terrain. Ground clearance has been increased by 23cm, and towing capacity has gone up to 1587 kg. With the Special Rugged variant, you also get all-terrain tyres and steel fenders – a perfect combo for adventure lovers.

When will it be launched in India?
According to reports, the 2026 Toyota RAV4 will be launched first in North America. After that, its localized production will take place in India through FAW Toyota and GAC Toyota. The India-specific model will include better EV range and localized smart features – similar to Toyota’s dual-strategy approach in the Chinese market as well. The new RAV4 is now not just an urban family SUV but a complete multi-utility SUV – fit for daily use in cities and ready for weekend off-roading adventures.
